finally got in india..
landing in mumbai is quite crazy, you see houses and buildings as close as 100m to the actual landing site..i am sure it would be a great issue in any othe place in the world...but seems is not in india..

got a really warm welcome by manashi and her husband, who are going to host me for a few days here in mumbai. we had a really nice chat already in the car and then at home..about ourselfs and a bit about india..
i'm sure i'm gonna have fun with this friendly and hospitable couple.
they live in a colonial area in the nort east of town...seems to be living in botanical garden for the large number of different trees and birds. fantastic.

india really smells like all the things my dad was taking back when travelling here..and i like this (sandal i think) perfume a lot. probably i'll also find all differend kinds of disgusting smells around...but tat won't matter that much..

it is super hot here..about 30 degs..which compared to the 2-3 in holland...is is an incredible difference

tonight i'll have my first REAL indian dinner cooked by manashi at home...
my mouth is already watering...too bad you are going o miss it.. eehheh

ok i'll keep relaxing in this pleasant sunday...

day2..
now this is india..got in town and subhankar dropped me at the gateway of india..
from there i started my tour...
well let's skip exactly what i visited..but go to what i experienced..
it is incredible how many ppl looks to cross your eyes to cheer you..probably interested by the western look...and they are all so friendly and helpful when u ask them something.
the best thing that happend has been to get lost into the muslim area, just north of victoria terminal close to the crawfort market..i got the chance to experience an indian market, with loads of colors, smells, perfumes, people, filth...i really liked it, and as usual you find the best things while you are wandering with no real destination...
i like mumbai...

feb 7th.
again mumbai...gotta see many things..
caught a ferry to get to elephanta island, on which in met 3 british ppl..had a nice chat, talked them into couchsurfing and the we got on the island.
the place is kinda harid, probably waiting for the monson..even though there was a swamp just next to the docks. u pay 5Rs. to get on the island, and then u even have to pay the site..which is 50Rs for indians..and dam...250Rs for westerns...what a rip off...moreover i didn't really like the site, there are a few caves, digged into the hill, with some axulprures...not really well maintained...to be sincere i wasn't satisfied at all with this visit.

anyways got back in town and headed to the Siddhidinayek temple, which is a temple devoted to Ganesh...was a tuesday, day in which all the pl worship this got, and go there to offer flowers and food to recieve a blessing. i got the chance to meet a friendly indian (carribean) lady, who walked in with me and explained many things about Ganesh..got the chance to really enter the temple where priests put the flowers and all next to the statue of Ganesh and gave them back to the ppl to take to their homes.
was really lucky as i got into the cue for "members" so i didnt have to cue for hours with many other ppl.
after the temple i went shopping with this lady, who then drove me to Bandra area, where i was supposed to meet Anu, met through couchsurfing.
it took 2 hours by car, we were stuck in the traffic...it kinda sucked in a way...
but we met at toto's, together with jiten..and then also peter, robin, aparna and her husband...at the end has been kinda a couchsurfing meeting so great fun!

day after..
again in town...prince of wales museum...interesting...in particular som e ivory carved boxes...an amazing artwork..and some objects in jade..incredible..

keep checking...i'll update this post soon

People walkin'upside down
Hi Lor,so you finally reached 'the other side'!...eheh, Lor in the Wonderland...
Yes,in a city with a culture that is so far from the one you're supposed to belong to,is much better if you get lost and try to forget you're a tourist.Exploring places where just a few westerns pass trough is the only way to discover 'the truth' about a country, the life that is hidden to the foreigners.
If I were you I'd try to know someone in the market, try to become part of the place, just a bit.
Oh,remember what I wrote you on the Moleskine about water and intestine bacterias change!Imodium could be your best travel pal ;)
Hope to read somethin' new from you very soon.
Ti abbraccio,ciao
