Where I stayed
July 4, 2009-Celibrating America's birthday in Canada we drove to Toronto, found a parking place near the CN tower and found out that there was a ninety minute wait to go to the top. Not worth it. We walked to the water front and found a nice restaurant with outdoor dining overlooking Lake Ontario. This was the first sunny warm day we have had in a week. Toronto is a very nice city, clean and a charming mix of old and new. We went to St. Lawrence Market in old town. What a great place to buy produce, meat, cheese, bakery goods and mustard.
After a great time in Toronto we drove sixty miles south to Niagara Falls. The Canadian side has the best views. The city is one big roadside attraction. I have not seen so many people since Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It was an international crowd; we didn’t hear a lot of English. The Falls are a natural spectacle surrounded by a carnival. At night they had fireworks and a light show. It was a fun 4th. Niagara Falls should be experienced once in a life time.--Nels
