Moose Lake Minnesota. We arrived at my Mothers place, 17 wooded acres that my grandfather purchased in 1930.  The original house was a Red Cross cabin, used to house victims of the Moose Lake fire on 1918.  As a child our family would come here every summer.  Grandpa would set up an old Army tent with cots for us to sleep on.  We would have a ball riding the wagon down the slope on the side of the house, playing in the river that runs through the property, eating fresh strawberries and raspberries that my grandparents grew.   I have many wonderful memories of summers past.

Across the street (Highway 61) trains used to rumble by.  I would stand out and wave at the engineer and he would blast his horn.  The tracks are gone, replaced by a bike trail that runs about 60 miles between Hinckley and Duluth.  A great place for a walk, run or ride.

Lake Superior looks more like an ocean than a lake.  We went on a drive along the North Shore with my mother on a beautiful sunny day.  We had lunch (halibut and grouper) at the Scenic Café and finished the day with pie at Betty's Pies in Two Harbors.

Northern Minnesota is one of my favorite places.  (Except for the mosquitoes.)
