Bar Harbor, Maine-Acadia National Park

Ok…ok…so our timing stinks on this leg of our trip. We are basically visiting an area where the biggest draw to it is its National Park. We've heard great things about Arcadia, we’ve seen on maps all the wonderful things to do once inside the park, we’ve driven past multiple park entrances, we can even peek in past the barriers and imagine the wonderfully scenic drive, the popular lakes, the many hiking trails....problem is.. there are barracades up at each and every entrance…thank you very much our wonderful Government!!! I shouldn’t complain (but I’m going to) because I’m only inconvenienced while vacationing..there are so many others that are without pay checks. It’s a sad state of affairs for sure!

Anyhow, the good news is, we are on the coast finally and you know what that means…Maine Lobster!! We stayed for 4 nights and ate lobster for 4 nights lol!! Being an Idaho girl, fresh seafood is in short supply where I come from so I’ll fess up that this is my first fresh lobster…I’ve had frozen lobster tail before but that’s as close as I’ve come. Well, I liked it, I like it a lot! This fashionista wannabe even wore the dorky plastic bibs (twice). We ate at a nice, highly recommended restaurant one night (The Chart house), we ate at a cool downtown Bar Harbor joint another (Piddy’s), the other 2 times were on the side of the road lobster pound shacks. Yummo!

Eating has really been the highlight here (ah, the simple pleasures) so beyond that, we spent a lot of time driving around the island checking out the harbors, (no boat tours due to weather issues) we drove all the way around the outskirts of Acadia National Park (and sulked at the many closed entrances) and we enjoyed this beautiful and very Easterly part of Maine.

P.s. The Cottages and Inns in this area are so lovely..and plentiful!! They each have their own unique personality. Love them.

Tomorrow we are headed to Portland, ME…

XOXO
