The visit to Morocco is getting better and better, here in Marrakech I got to see by myself one of the images I had formed of the country in my mind, only this time it was much improved by lively colours, noise, smell and taste.
When we arrived here, we got to the main square before the sun did, and the huge empty space did not remind me of anything, but then after we spent the day walking around, seeing the mosques and some other landmarks trying not to sleep on our feet after the long night on the road, the square got full of people wearing traditional clothes, playing music to snakes and selling stuff, and it got more and more crowded until finally at night there were tons of stands selling typical food, making it a perfect place to have dinner - and even more for the atmosphere than for the actual food.
The next day completed the image when we strolled through the main market - many streets lined with shops selling all kinds of spices, fabric, clothes, handicraft and even dried reptiles to serve as good luck charms.
A great city, even if marginally spoiled by the tourist flies that continue to pursue us... we are learning how to dismiss them faster; though, maybe at some point we will not be bugged anymore.
Heading to the wilderness now.
