(Bydgoszcz bringing people together)
Arrived in Bydgoszcz right into the party. Called Wojtek, the organizer and my host from the station and half an hour later was greeted by a group of twenty to thirty people screaming "Ola!" and joined them on their way to the pub, no time for dropping luggage! A very good party, couldn't stop talking for a minute, but somehow I got drunk really fast, about the third beer (couldn't even finish the fourth), so when people went home I didn't stay up, just got me a corner on the ground and slept.
But it was good, as the next day people were waken up at seven something to catch a train to Torun, meet some more people there and have a tour around the city. Torun is the hometown of Copernicus (I didn't even know he was Polish!), and right in the center there is a statue of him, which also seems to be Torun's main meeting point. We did some things in Torun, visiting the gingerbread museum (and giving a hand in preparing gingerbread ourselves), walking by the river, going up a church to have an overview of the city, eating typical Polish food etc., but it was of course a slow day.
Then back to Bydgoszcz for the other half of the party, of course, and this was even better (and I lasted longer too), we must have visited around three or four different places before finally going home.
On Sunday everybody who was still in Wojtek's parents' house (he sent his parents away to use the house for the party :) had to wake up early to leave. Got ourselves a ride to the train station in a yellow bus (there was a guy in the party who actually lives in a yellow bus), a lot more fun than it was comfortable... Then almost everyone left for Warszawa and I had to wait until the night to go to Krakow, so I left my luggage in the yellow bus and spent the day walking around Bydgoszcz.
An excellent weekend, met some very nice people and Torun is a very beautiful city.
(Sorry, but I will only be able to upload photos after I leave Praha...)

Spirits ...
I wonder if you'll go on with both spirits (alcoholic and gypsy) when you come back ... Hic! (ops! I got a little drunk reading your diary ...)
