Today we went to a drive to the Mornington Peninsula. Got up about 7.30am for an early start we left at 8am. It was a 2hr drive in the car. Our 1st stop was the Rye Pier which is an octopusses garden. We walked along the pier 1st to see what's below then we got our gear out of the car & put on our snorkels & went into the freezing cold water. Jay stayed on the beach. Had a few snorkel & goggle issues but they were soon sorted out. We snorkelled up half the wharf & waited for Bella then my camera decided to get water init & it wasn't even opened. Not happy with that. Jay took it back to the beach & tried to dry out. We then headed back to the beach. Under the wharf there was heaps of little fish & some nice seaweed, but we didn't see any octopus. The girls & I then layed on the beach to dry off & warm up. Braiden snorkelled around chasing fish. I went across the road to the bakery & got some cheese & bacon rolls & chocolate donuts for lunch. After we ate them it was about 12pm so we packed up & left for the next spot. We drove along the coast road till we got to Dromana a very pretty clear beach with a lot of bathing boxes along the beach foreshore. We walked along the beach taking photos of all the bathing boxes to the pier at the end. Braiden stayed & swam in the water. The girls & I headed back & the girls went for a swim while I sat on the beach, watched & waited for Jay to return from his wonderings. The water was chrystal clear with only little patches of seaweed. After an hour here we packed up & headed for the next beach. This one was at Mount Martha. They had the bathing boxes from the brochures really pretty ones brightly painted with decking out front. Jay, Kaila & I stayed on the beach & watched Braiden going swimming on his boogie board after a while Bella joined him. This is a very pretty spot also, the sand was more coarse & the water was clear with patches of rocks on the bottom. After another hour here we packed up & went for drive to Mornington we went to the pier. Jay & I went for a wonder up to the look out & took some photos then we thought we should be heading home. We bought some ice creams for the trip home. When we got into Melbourne centre it was like being back in Sydney heaps of traffic. We eventually got back to our caravan park & got ready to head out again. We had some McDonalds for tea the slowest McDonalds ever left there at 7.30pm & headed for the Old Melbourne Goal for our hangmans candlelight tour. Arrived there stressed at 8pm after Nav sent us on a detour of Melbourne. The tour started about 8.30pm. The tour of the goal wasn't very scary but very interesting. I missed some it as Kaila had a fainting spell as it was very hot & stuffy in the Goal. Saw where Ned Kelly was hung, all the heads of the other people who were also hung. Saw where they were flogged. Went inside a cell for 6 people & was told what life was like in the Goal. Very interesting, all in pitch black with only a candle light which gives more of a perspective of life in goal at night time. Then at the end the lights went on & we got to look around.
