Woke up to a cold wet windy miserable day. So slept in abit & slowly got ready. We decided to still go to the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk ($60). Packed in our ponchos & rain jackets & headed out about 11am. Driving into the Otway forest was a little windy track. I loved the sign stating Logging trucks & tourist use this road. Another sign was In Australia we drive on the left. When we arrived we put on our wet weather gear & headed out. Had a lovely walk downhill & walked straight to the Prehistoric path. Braiden loved this as it had a lot of dinosaurs along the pathway. Then we headed downhill towards the Tree Top Walk. It's a metal walkway suspended in the tree tops. We went up the spiral stairway which is 47m above the forest floor a very long way up. Freaked me out slightly climbing the spiral stairs up, but a lovely view from the top made my fears ease a little although I didn't go close to the edge. Next on the line was the Cantilever which gently sways about 33m above the forest floor. Didn't like this alot either. (I have a fear of heights) We then followed the walkways which ranged from 15m to 25m above the forest floor. Lovely tree ferns covered the forest floor. Some very big old trees could be seen from the top. A very pretty area. Then we made the steep walk back up to the top. When we got back to the beginning we had a lovely lunch in the cafe ($45). After lunch we decided to go & explore some waterfalls in the area. The 1st waterfall was the triplets fall. 1hr circle trip threw the forest stairs going up & down. There was 2 viewing platforms 1st at the bottom of the falls then up some more stairs to the top. This was a very beautiful double fall. Then we headed up some stairs towards to carpark. This only took us about 40min. Along another path branched off into another waterfall called the Little Aire Falls it was a 2hr return walk. So we decided to go & explore some more. It was very steep path up & down stairs curving around the mountains. It took us 45min to reach the fall threw some huge trees & pretty fern filled ground. We had a view of the fall from a platform 7m above it. Then we headed back. Very exhausting back up & down steep hillsides. It only took us 35min on the way home. We were all power walking. Poor Braiden was totally buggered by the time we got back. He slept well that night.
