Yayyy! Sorry for not blogging after the long weekend. I just took a test today and I finally found some down time. Okay so this past weekend was absolutely awesome yet crazy. But that's how Europe is supposed to be right?
This past weekend I traveled with Laura, Vidya, Suvi, Palavi, Pranaya, Nina and Christine
So we left Metz Friday night and took a night train to Prague. We thought our adventure was going to start when we got to Prague but boy were we wrong. On the night train, Suvi and I were sitting next to each other and there was an obnoxious group of German middle aged men sitting in the cart in front of us. It's about 10pm when we get on the night train so we just talk and during this time the German men are up from their seats and piling into our cart. They of course start drinking and drinking a lot... It's about midnight and the lights are still not off in the train yet but we head to sleep. At about 2am I'm still about half awake since these drunk German men were extremely loud and calling attention upon themselves. Soon the conductors come by and tell ask the German men for their identifications. One of them is SO drunk that he just starts hitting the conductor and pushing him away. So as a last resort the conductor calls back up and they kick the German man off the train...and then I finally sleep. Total hours of sleep: 4

So the next morning we arrive in Prague! It's a beautiful day out so all of us just head to the hostel which is only a 15 minute walk from the train station. We decide to check in but as usual we couldn't till 2pm so we lock our stuff up and find something to eat. We saw the Dancing house on our way and grabbed lunch at a nearby restaurant. The food was delicious and probably one of my favorite meals I've had in Europe. I ordered a drink called Kofola, which tasted like a licorice flavored coke. It was super yummy with the chicken pasta! Next, it started pouring so we just decided to hangout at the restaurant for a little bit. We then headed back to the hostel to get ready for a great night out! We got ready and headed towards Wenceslas Square. We looked at all of the markets, grabbed some food, and toured the beautiful Old Town. We saw the Astronomical clock too. In Old Town, we were approached by a young man who led us to the sign up for the Pub Crawl. So we got our wristbands and decided to just hangout in town and wander the streets until we got to the first bar. So the first bar was fun, we got unlimited drinks for an hour! We met some kids from Va Tech and they were all surprisingly business majors which was pretty neat. Next, we headed to the second bar. We got a shot as we walked in and we just danced and chilled. Then, we headed to the final bar.. on the way guess who I meet of all people in this world?! Ankur and Saloni! yupp, my childhood buddies just strangely look at me as I bar hop. We made eye contact as I was walking and we both just turned heads towards each other and I just start running towards them! I couldn't believe it. My night was made. I felt like home came to me again when I gave them hugs. Such a wonderful feeling. So next we head to the third bar and we play some drinking games. Then we head to the 5 story club.. and unfortunately I didn't even make it into the club because some people decided to get excessively wasted and sick. Whatever, the past is the past.

So the next morning most of us are still upset about last night but we just decided to eat breakfast at the hostel, get ready, and go on the walking tour at 11. On the walking tour we see the New town, Old town (again), and the prominent Jewish community. The entire city just took me by surprise. The people spoke English, everything was super cheap and the people were welcoming! Seeing all of the architecture, the culture of the city as a melting pot really made me happy. After the walking tour, we decided to grab lunch. During lunch, we talked about the previous night and how I was just disappointed in some people's behavior. But after that was all over with, we went to the Charles Bridge and the John Lennon Wall. So from the Bridge you can see the water and the different palaces. Absolutely gorgeous. We head the the Wall since we bought spray paint and wanted to leave a piece of us in Prague. As I was spray painting the wall, Ankur and Saloni came up to me and surprised me! It was awesome :) So we took pictures and spent the day walking around the city with them. We headed back to our hostels around 6 and decided to meet up for dinner later that night. We were all just super tired of hardly any sleep! We met up with them for dinner and ate at an Asian bistro---delicious food again! We parted our ways and said our goodbyes. It was so nice to see "family" in Prague! We headed back to the hostel and called it a night.

Next stop: Vienna, Austria!
