Well off it was to Coron, an Island north of Palawan. We were looking round for a way to get there, a few different boats went on alternate days. The dodgiest boat was going on our day... they have been allowed to operate again after having their boat stranded behind a small Island in the middle of nowhere all night until the storm subsided.
Sounds promising.

Boarded the boat, bit cramped and uncomfortable also the way we were maneuvering out of the port I knew it wouldn't be long before Elle starts chundering so we went up on the sun deck. Best idea I think I've ever had, its strange that no one else came up although there was only 6 or 7 of us on board. Maybe we smelt? One guy came up, another German.. they keep popping up aye? Top notch guy by the name of Eckart.

The ferry ride was around 8 hours long, we killed time by reading books and taking photos. We didn't stray to far out to sea as there is Islands more or less all the way to Coron. Elle and I had a sunset photo competition, let us know how we got on in the comments box below.
Didn't really think we needed sun lotion on, we're all about sun smart now being in Aus... not then.

Got to Coron in one piece, pretty dark when we did and whilst departing the boat I lost my sunglasses when hitting my head on the door frame. Nooooo!!! Still sad about that, my best sunnies.

The boat docked at Sea Dive resort, it was one of few in LP (lonely planet) and we was going to dive anyway so tried booking in.
Managed to get a room for the night, we wanted to stay 3 and they could accommodate us but for the first night in divers digs. Eckart managed to swag the owners room for one night as he was away on holiday, lucky git!
We met the next morning for brekkie deciding what to do. Do we take the next 2 nights with diving all in one price or try to find cheaper digs and separate cheap diving? We chose the latter.

Looking around we managed to find a decent place, brand new. We were the first guests to stay, took a bit of persuading with the owner as it still wasn't ready but a good bargain an all.
We also found a diving company to do the wrecks with, our dive master was 18 looking 14, good lad though and he said he had been diving since he was 6!

That night to celebrate getting sorted we went to the Hot springs, the only salty hot springs in Asia the temperature was around 40*c. A nice cold San Mig went lovely whilst taking a dip, Eckart couldn't stay in too long as his burn was still bad from the ferry!

The diving was immense, can't remember the name of the 2 wrecks we done as I'm useless but we went to 40m each dive which was a bit dodge as we have only been to 30 which is our limit. We done a swim through on both, we also done some snorkeling on the 3rd dive whilst Eckart went down solo with the DM.

We went on a lagoon trip the next day, taking in Twin Lagoon, Kayangan Lake and a few others with lunch on the beach. Kayangan is meant to be the cleanest lake in the Philippines, very hard to keep afloat in whilst snorkeling and not much life. It was refreshing to jump in though after trudging 200 or so steps to get to it.
Twin lagoon was cool, with its thermocline that you could see distinctively at about a foot from the surface. Lots of life in this lagoon.

It was finally over for our Philippines stint of the trip, we had our flights booked to Vietnam from Manila and we had our flights booked to Manila from Coron. So off we went.

On the flight, we had inside knowledge of a game the air crew played (going on several flights in the Philippines) We managed to win a flask! How cool.
