What I did
We stopped off in Manila for 1 night and then we were flying to Cebu the next night.
We went for a few beers with Dean and Stacey and the best thing about it all was that they were cheap!!
Had a look round the old part of the city the next day, it really does have a a big Spanish feel to it. The history of it all was good, we went to the Cathedral which is a minor Basilica (think it means the pope has been there).
Intramuros is the oldest District in Manila, it was a fortified city built by the Spanish so has walls all around it. One of the main attractions inside the walls is Fort Santiago which was the defensive stronghold against invasions from British, Dutch. It's a shame we didn't have more time to look around, would have been good to have had one more day there.
Went to the shopping mall as they are big in Philippines, they have the 3rd biggest one in the world! Had a look round, didn't buy anything.
We went to look for something to eat just outside the mall, there was a courtyard with a few restaurants so we went to look for them... big mistake! The guys all come running out with menus telling us to come into their place, in the end I just run off down the road! One or two came running after me, crazy gringos!
We found somewhere to eat back inside the Mall which was nice, all served on banana leaves which I guess saves on washing up.
We went back to the hotel to get our bags and said bye to Stacey and Dean which would be for the last time. Off to Cebu we go.
