Well Island tour over now its time to head inland, to whats meant to be the oldest rainforest in the world. Khao Sok National Park, we got the ferry all ok then our connecting bus inland, we had to change over after about an hour.
We stopped at some little shack and this is where we booked our first nights accomadation for Khao Sok, seeing as we will be dropped off in the dark and the digs don't appear untill 1km down the road if we book one we get picked up. The only option the bloke had was Jungle Huts so we opted for the '2 year old' huts on stilts for 400 rather than the 5 year for 350 or the brand new ones for 500.
We got on a songthaew (open pick-up truck taxi) to the centre of town to get on our minivan for the rest of the Journey. On the minivan we met 2 girls Verona and Anouk from germany and Holland, they were going to Khao Sok aswell but had not booked any accomadation, so we told them what we was doing and to see if they wanted to jump on our connecting songthaew to Jungle Huts and just stay for the night and look the next day, they decided to do that instead of walking in the dark for half hour.. good option.
When we got to Jungle Huts, it wasnt as new as the bloke had told us, our accommodation was ok, but it was about 10 years old. It was all quite run down so we thought there would be better most likely for the same price somewhere, also the guy was quite pushy with wanting us to do the trips. We sat down for dinner and he was straight up to us, 'oh you should do this trip and this one, the girls you come with get them to do it aswell...'.
The next day we woke up and started looking at what the Lonely Planet book suggested, after a couple of hours walking and looking we decided to sit down and eat. Here we saw V and Nouk walk past so called them in to join us and to see if they had looked, we decided to eat and look together at the last few. The place we was eating in we looked at Khao Sok Riverside Cottages and they were really nice, all the rooms were connected by bridge to the restaurant/reception and the rooms themselves were cool with all funky wooden furniture. We asked for a price and they were 600 a night, so we looked at the place across the road (always spread your bets as they sometimes go lower as you start walking, but not this time). Ones for 500 were ok, a little run down but better than what we stayed in the night before, we looked at their premium rooms and they were premium... quite high up on stilts, nice big flat screens and in the bathrooms they had a huge rock formation with a waterfall with big pebbles all on the floor, bit too expensive though! So off we went back to the one we ate at and to see if we could do a deal, seeing as me and elle were wanting to do the Chow Lan lake trip and Anouk and V wanted to stay a couple of nights, they let us have the rooms for 500 a night, but then they realised they were only open for one more day and then off to Phuket for a staff party so we managed to get the one night for 500 which was a shame as they were really nice.
The same afternoon we done river tubing in big rubber rings down the water that runs alongside the hotel. It was alot of fun we saw a couple of snakes up in the trees and after awhile we stopped by a rope swing. After a go each a monkey appeared out of nowhere and sat on a rock  a few metres away and started watching us then after a few more on the rope swing a whole family appeared in the tree above us with baby monkeys an all! I managed to get a few pictures but on a disposable camera and having troubles loading them onto the computer so will keep trying.
We had dinner at a busy place called Morning Mist resort, cool place nice atmosphere nice food, we decided to look at the rooms the next day.
So the next morning it was time to move out, which was a shame as the rooms were nice and we had a decent nights sleep. We left our bags there whilst checking out new places, that morning mist resort didn't have many rooms and Elle didn't like the openess about the rooms with too many bugs being able to get in!! We found decent rooms at Tree House or Tree Top resort, cant remember now (writing too long after!!) for 500 a night so decided to stay there for 1 more night and also book the Chow Lan lake trip for the next day, we done that with Morning Mist.
After checking in we went to the national park which is at the top of the road of all the accommodation, but as our place was the last we was right next to it. The only trainers I bought with me were Vans which I regret now as I ended up with the biggest blister and my white socks, one of them turned red. After a few hours trekking and seeing the lack lustre waterfalls, we got stopped by men as your not allowed to go any further after a certain time as it gets dark about 6.30 and they don't want anyone getting stuck as there's bears, wild cats and even elephants in the park (we saw none). Heading back down we went to a pool of water after passing 2 monks praying and took a dip too cool off which was nice and refreshing, I was the only one with a leech but found it pretty quick just on my leg near my knee. We got back down at the right time, I didn't want to be up there when it got dark as there was some strange noises going on. The girls didn't care and taking a nice stroll down whilst I was trying to get them to do a quick march!
Dinner again and we booked the trip and the girls booked a minivan to Krabi, so we said our goodbyes and off to bed.
The next morning we were off to Chow Lan lake about an hour away, so we left our bags with Morning Mist and took our Daybags with us.
