The ferry ride over wasn't as bad as the first one to Koh Tao. We stayed on top deck which managed to keep Elle's breakfast down. We arrived at Koh Phangan still not knowing where we was going to stay. As we got to the pick-up truck taxis to go to bottle beach off the recommendation of our diving instructor. We had to get a taxi to the next beach along as there is no roads going to bottle beach (secluded..) then on a longtail boat (a boat with a car engine spinning a propeller at the end of a long shaft) round to our little beach of loneliness.
We made the right decision, what a lovely beach only 4 accommodation choices 4 restaurants and a volleyball net. We decided to stay in a beachfront hut for 300tbh a night which works out at 6 a night.. sorted.
We found the Irish guys Paddy and Chris who we met in Koh Tao, they were staying in the same bunch of huts and had made friends with a french guy that they met on the ferry. Julien he has the funniest laugh.
This place was great, because its so small and hard to leave and get here you make friends really quick, knowing more or less everyone in the restaurant on the first night. We met a few more people by the names of Tasha, Hayden, Andy, Josie, Corey, Michael and Jess. We had a little group that would eat breakfast, play volleyball and eat dinner with, it was really cool.
We really didn't do much other than stated above, we wanted to chill out as much as possible after the diving and we done just that. Other than going to watch England throw it away and the full moon party we didn't leave the beach.
Now the Full Moon Party, what an experience that was. During our stay on this island we have come accustom to buying bottles of Samsong Rum and then just taking it to the restaurants and buying the mixers, makes it much cheaper, a bottle of rum for 4!!!
So the night of the party, we had a nap from 6 till 8 seeing as we was going to be staying up till dawn. We took our bottle of rum to smile restaurant (the local) cushions on the floor with 50% of the customers smoking doobies it was chilled out to say the least!! We made a couple of buckets minus the red bull, that stuffs lethal!! Headed off about 10 the journey from hell had started. Remember me saying there wasn't a road into bottle beach, well we took a pick-up truck to Haad Rin (where the party is held). To get to a road we had to drive up more or less a mountain, with the biggest pot-holes in the world. No tarmac for about the first 10 mins = my most uncomfortable ride so far in my life, we were on the back of the pick-up truck and I was wedged between the wheel arch and the spare wheel. Paddy managed to sleep threw it?!
We arrived in one peace to the busiest place I've been to outside a Stadium. 7000 people on the beach dancing to different types of music being blasted out from various bars dotted along the strip. Me and Elle got a neon painted tattoo each and lost the others whilst doing so, so looked around for awhile whilst partying at the same time. It went so quick it was soon time to go, after meeting Mike and Jess for something to eat (they had left bottle beach 2 days earlier) small world! We made our way to our lift back and found everyone was there except Chris, we waited around for around 20 mins but come to the fact that he is probably asleep along with the hundred or so others on the beach so we had to leave him.
Back at bottle beach we went for a dip at 7 in the morning with a few worse than others, not saying any names (Andy). Me and Elle went for a little sleep till about 10 then sunbathed for the rest of the day, we saw Chris coming back in on a longtail at 11 am (paddy won the bet, I had 2pm). Chris and Andy went all threw the day still drinking at Smile, I don't know how they managed to do it but I think they were the drunkest twosome on the Island.
We left the next day, which is today (writing this on the coach, just need to find some wifi to load it up!). We are off to Khao Sok National Park in the jungle, hoping to do some kayaking, jungle trekking and trying to spot monkeys, elephants and the odd tiger if we're lucky.
Bottle Beach has been the best location so far, if not for the scenery and chill out factor then for the people that we met there.
