Started the morning by doing a load of washing and setting it out to dry in the bathroom. The tubes were back to normal this morning and we arrived at Victoria Station to find our waiting room for the Orient Express already open, offering refreshments and comfort.

Of course the weather is still unseasonally warm - according to the weather records we should've been expecting a temperature around 8 degrees celsius, but instead, we have been having temperatures 10 degrees higher!!  Not a climate I packed for.  Consequently I didn't feel appropriately dressed for the Orient Express - which was a pity, but I'll never see those people again
.
We boarded our train when it arrived and loved the atmosphere and furnishings of the wonderfully restored carriages.  We enjoyed the scenic countryside on our way down to Folkstone, whilst tucking in to our 3 course brunch with champagne/Bellinis,

We were greeted at Folkstone station by a brass band, before boarding coaches to Canterbury where we enjoyed a guided walking tour exploring the huge historic cathedral and the little streets of the city that inspired Chaucer's unfinished masterpiece The Canterbury Tales.  Pilgrims have journeyed here for centuries, to the shrine of Thomas a Becket who was murdered in his own cathedral in 1170.

We returned to our coach at 4pm for our journey back to Victoria Station where we selected dinner at the Marks & Spencer store to heat up in the comfort of our apartment.
