wow, Nigeria is hot!  Since my flight was screwed up due to snow, I was delayed a day and so I "wasn't on the list" to be picked up from the airport in Lagos when I arrived.  Since I was flying originally on a Friday, I couldn't reach anyone at the institute I was visiting and interviewing with - all home for the weekend, so couldn't tell them I'd be a day late.  I had to insist, and I do mean INSIST that the representative from the institute pick me up.  He tried to tell me, "No, you were here yesterday.  Not today." 
But I convinced him otherwise, fortunately!  The airport was milling with shouting, crowding people and I was definitely feeling claustrophobic and ovewhelmed.  I was taken to a hotel with the rest of the pickups, dumped off without dinner, then the next day, picked up without water or breakfast, driven to Ibaden, where they wanted to start the interview THEN.  I insisted (begged) for a crust of bread and a bottle of water so they finally obliged, but probably thought I was a whiner. 

And so my week-long interview began.
