The whole of this weekend is party time in Peru as today it is Independence Day and the celebrations are huge.  There is going to be a massive party in town tonight, along with all the hostels having their own mini party's.  We are also celebrating Surya's birthday as we won't be here for it on Tuesday.

Most of the day was spent sunbathing as the weather is hot, hot, hot, and also trying to drag Ben's sorry little backside out of bed as he didn't get in until gone 7 am this morning.  He does look like death warmed up and eventually dragged himself out of his pit at about 4.30 pm.

The drinking all started at about 6 pm when we were all getting ready to go out.  We had the barbecue which the hostel put on, but the food was pretty rubbish and there was nothing for Surya to eat as she is a vegetarian.  Ah well, just drink more, you will soon forget that you are hungry.

There were loads of drinking games going on in the hostel, like Beer Pong and the fastest person to drink beer from a funnel.  I would just like to add that I didn;t get involved in these childish activities!  I was being sort of sensible for a change!!  Loads of loud music to dance to and just have fun.

Before we knew it, it was 1.30 am so we headed on into town via the beach.  The noise coming from far away was incredible.  No one would be going to bed early tonight.

All the bars along the beach front where rammed with people either inside the bar or out on the footpath and beach, with music blaring.  Mixes of modern western and Latin American music and it was such a great vibe.  The atmosphere was incredible.

All the bars closed at around 4 am and Mel was adamant that she wanted to drink more so we ended up finding another party to go to, after waiting around on the beach for a while as a massive fight broke out between some Peruvians and Colombians.  Glad to see that it's not just the English that like to fight after a night out!!!

The other party we found was in what I thought was an open air car park but it was actually some sort of hostel/hotel with a DJ playing.  Again, it was a great atmosphere there and everyone was partying hard.  This all finished at about 6 am and we realised it was pretty late as it was getting light.

We ended up losing Tom and Surya some where along the walk back to the hostel.  Me, Mel and Ben walked back via the beach and befriended a local dog who wanted to come back to the hostel with us.

I think it was about 7.30 am by the time we got back to the hostel and I thought it would be a good idea to skype Mum to say hello.  What a state I was in.  I can remember looking at my face in the camera and just laughing to myself.  I know Mum was laughing too!!!  I finally crawled into my pit at about 8 am.  Hmmmm I think I might be a little worse for wear when I wake up later.
