Birds again. Today I was working with Dee who comes here every year for 3 months to help out.  She has a degree in Zoology back in Ireland.  She was great to work with as she knows it is all about the animals and she does not like slackers.

Similar sort of day as yesterday.  I am making sure that the cages are scrubbed each day as if you keep on top of it daily, it only takes about 5 minutes to clean the cages.  Most are small, however, there is one big cage out the back with the 6 Amazon Parrots where you have to scrub the floor, the branches and rocks that are in there just to get rid of the old food and also the poo which seems to spread everywhere.

Not much else happened today, apart from me having Becky's 3 baby monkeys fall asleep on me whilst I was sat in her house.  God you could watch them for hours and be fascinated by them and never be bored.  Most people went up to Coroico for food, but I decided to stay back in the Sanctuary as what is the point of paying for food out, when you have it here for free.  I ended up staying with Becky, Tom, Seraya and a few others.  After dinner when went over to the staff room (Aruma Room) and watched a movie.  There really isn’t much to do here once you finish work so it’s either watch a movie or go to bed.  Most nights I am in bed by 10 pm, but only if there is someone to walk back with.

The only one issue I have here is that the volunteer house is not on the grounds of the sanctuary.  You have to walk back over the footbridge and about 5 minutes down the road to get to the house.  As soon as it gets dark, you cannot see your hand in front of your face so it is a spooky.  Also, the road is the very end of the Death Road so traffic does come up and down.  I don’t want to walk around here on my own at night.  I think they need to rethink this and maybe move the volunteers house.
