So I left the sleepy town of Mission Beach behind and caught the Greyhound bus down to Townsville.

Anni, Martina and I caught the bus together and took the 3 1/2 hr bus ride to Townsville.  Can't believe that I losing my little Anni again.  I have had her with me for most of my trip and it's gonna be lonely without her.  Loves ya Anni!  I certainly will be having a trip to Finland sometime in the future.

Had to catch the ferry across to Magnetic Island.  It only takes 20 minutes from Townsville.  Once I got to the Island, I had to hop on a bus to the other side of the Island which is called Horseshoe Bay, where I am staying at Bungalow Bay YHA.  The place is fantastic.  There are little bungalows scattered around I don't know how many acres which also houses it's own Koala Sanctuary.  I shall be going there tomorrow!

My dorm has 6 beds in it with en suite and air con.  This is luxury.  I could get used to this.

As I didn't get here until around 3 pm, I decided to have a little wander around.  OMG, there is so much wildlife around here.  I am in seventh heaven.  Walking along the road I saw 2 wallabies have a punch up.  A kookaburra sat on a fence minding it's own business.  Fruit Bats that look bigger than me, and the funniest thing ever.  Let me explain.  I walked back to the hostel around 4.30 pm and I could hear all these birds squawking.  As I got closer, there were hundreds of lorakeets on the floor, sat on peoples hands, shoulders and heads.  They were being fed.  This happens every day at the same time so the birds know when to come.  You have never heard noise like it, especially when they land on your shoulder and screech in your ear.  And their claws really dig into you.  I had them on my head, then on my back and finally on my hands.  I have taken a good video on my camera so you can hear the noise.

I walked around the grounds at sunset and more and more wildlife were coming out to play.  Loads of wallabies wandering around.  This place is magical.

The noises that comes from the rainforest and alike are wonderful.  All the different birds calling and the other animals mooching around making their own noises.  I want to live here!!!

Tonight after unpacking, I treated myself to a $10 pizza (which was actually very nice) and a pint of lager.

I think I'm going to hire a car tomorrow for 1/2 day and drive around the island as it is a little to large to cycle or walk.  I'll let you know what I discover tomorrow.

It's getting better all the time!
