Greetings from London. I'm glad to have left the land of the diet craze. No low carb signs here thank god. It's about 6pm here on the first full day of the trip. We've been out and about since 8am, and have probably already walked 8 miles. London is the most cosmopolitan European city I've ever been to. It's got the charm and quaintness of Boston, the liveliness of NYC and nobody wears shorts! I have to force myself to look the other way so that I don't get creamed by a bus. We're staying with my friend Laura who lives in a squatted flat, and it's proven to give some great insight into a lifestyle I've never been exposed to. Apparently squatting is legal in London and you can stay in the same place till the court evicts you. The building that she lives in probably is 50/50 squatters/tenants. London is so outrageously expensive that I can understand why people would take advantage of any opportunity to save money. (Scrounging food, bumping public transportation, etc.) So, once again thinks have been interesting.

The first night here we walked around Camden area and Michal and Mara (from Austria) did lots of shopping while Laura and I talked about how much we hate shopping. I was on the verge of passing out from not sleeping on the flight over and being jet lagged, but they dragged my ass to Kite Park (can't remember real name) which overlooked the city. We can back to the flat and had an awesome dinner of couscous and veggies. (and a nap) FYI (you can buy strongbow in a 3-liter bottle) We actually managed a good night sleep (part 1 - 4 hrs) (part 2 - 3 hrs) before we began this crazy day. I wanted bangers and mash but settled for a sausage on a (slightly) moldy bauggette. Tonight, I'm being told I'll have a curry that'll blow my mind. I humbly accept the invitation. Tomorrow we meet Sara(h)? and are off to Paris for sights and bouldering. Pictures will come then to.
