What a way to say goodbye to the US. This past weekend was filled with surprises upon surprises. My family, the terrific planners that they are, have been scheming since I returned from Sweden to have Hannes surprise me in the US. So, on Thursday afternoon, I made the trek down to Annapolis, Maryland to pick up my marm from work and we were going to pick up "her friend Kathy from Arizona" at BWI. But, as it turns out, Hannes walked out of the arrivals gate, not Kathy. And, surprised I was! I did a double take, looked at my mom (and hit her) saying, "Moooooom!" and ran over to Hannes! Needless to say, tears came to my eyes (tears of joy, of course). Not only was I surprised at the surprise, but also that my marm was able to keep the surprise (she tends to have trouble with this aspect of surprises).

Later that evening, Max bussed in from Pittsburgh and the three of us spent the next day at Hershey Park. My sister came home from Millersville on Friday night. Saturday afternoon was spent at good old Latshmere Pool and that night began my surprise party. Which, in the end, was more of a party with surprise guests including Megz (coming from Greensburg) and Courtney (journeying from State College). Lots of other family and friends were there and it was a great way to say goodbye to everyone. My sister had guests make little notecards with messages and bring photos along to include in a small album. This will be a great way for me to share my friends and family with my new friends and also a way for me to remember everyone!

Sunday was spent at Latshmere again (a Sunday without the pool wouldn't be a Sunday at all). Friends left town and I said more goodbyes, spending the evening packing and spending quality time with my sis, marm and Hannes.

Today, we took Hannes to Newark airport so he can head back and get started on his work week and now I am in Philly where my marm and I will spend the evening and morning tomorrow. Check in for the Peace Corps is tomorrow!

Oh man, it's finally here. I'll keep you posted.

Spellbound
Rebecca, your writing is so enchanting and colourfull, it almost make me feel like I was there, at your party, in real life....but hey, that would be too good to be true.
Keep up the good writing!

ps. 'Spellbound' is also the name of a album released by Paula Abdul in 1991. The major hit single of the album 'Blowing Kisses in the Wind' was an internationall success. On that note I´ll blow you a kiss and say goodbye.
