Well here i am in Xi'an - home of the terra-cotta warriors and a load more history!

My day started at 5.15 am, a one and a half hour taxi ride to airport, with the sun coming up nicely.  Flight was about 2 hours... The guy sitting by me on the plane offered to show me  where to get the bus into town - people can be so helpful its so nice!  It is colder here in Xi'an and raining, however i am excited to be here.

IThe bus from the airport went to the bell tower is central in the city and why I booked a hotel near it. On my way to the hotel an old lady showed me she was selling maps, i bought one for 20 - probably too much but i was just really happy to get it and she was happy i bought it!! After checking in i went out for a look around. It was cold and i spent a while looking round for thethe Muslim quarter.

I was searching for a place that does shows of shadow puppets - A girl helped me by walking some of the way there (on her way to her bus) communication between us was bad and we laughed a lot - but with some words in both Chinese and English and the help of my map we got by. I found the Muslim quarter and in amongst all the chaos of the market was a small place where you can look at an old house and see the shadow puppet show for 30 yuan. The puppet show was really intersting; one guy controlling the puppets behind the screen, another playing the instruments. I hope you like the short video which will show you what it was like.  The old house was really interesting too but it was getting dark and so the pictures aren't the best.

Then i wandered around the market - just looking as it was so interesting, and they made many different foods, the smells were amaznig. I just love seeing all the different things

By 7.30pm I was getting cold again so popped into Md's for a hot choc before going on to get a taxi to North square at The Giant Goose Pagoda - i wanted to see the fountain and lazer show which is on there (for free) every night). In MD's a guy (Mr Fok) spoke to me, while i had my hot choc, I asked if he had seen the fountain show, he hadnt so he decided to go with me. The Pagoda is lovely, but at 8pm it wasn't open, but as i was looking for the largest water fountain show in asia it didnt matter - it was lovely to see and i plan to go back in daylight. Got to the water show and got a good spot to watch it. It was really good to watch, and very nice with the Pagoda in the background. Mr Fok thought it was great too and shouted out "amaxing".  When the fountains were really high and then stopped suddenly, the noise from all the water dropping was so loud - it all added to the show!

On the way to get a taxi back to my hotel- many people were looking up at something and taking pics -  it was a massive ceiling screen. I think Steve would have liked this!
