Where I stayed
Leaving the shores of Lake Atitlan behind, we headed to Antigua Guatemala. Sitting at the base of the volcano Volcán de Agua, Antigua was the third capital of Guatemala until earthquakes in 1773 destroyed a lot of the city and the capital was moved to what is now Guatemala City.
Antigua is another quaint colonial town, streets set out in grids and colourful old buildings. Given it's relatively central location, Antigua attracts a lot of tourists . It's less than an hour away from Guatemala city and a million times safer!
I had a few days here in Antigua, wandering around and taking it easy!!
