A favorite part of this trip has been going to the main Bazaar and buying material for a kurdish outfit. The shops are amazing and full of rhinestones, lame's lace, net - too much. The people who help you with your purchase are old men! They are actually very helpful with choices. You need a pair of genie pants, an under dress, an over dress, a vest and a belt. So choices, choices choices. My choice is red and gold. After selecting the material we headed to the tailors for sewing. Three days late - voula! Of course, I had to get back and get the jewelry - head, earrings, necklace, belt, anklet - these guys love the bling! Then off to the wedding - I think the guests outshine the bride! In Kurdistan it is rude for the bride to smile - imagine!!! If you are ever in Erbil - buy the outfit!
