Hi all (Katie btw), apologies for the lack of blogs lately - new country, lack of money, internet access and time are all contributors! We are now in lovely Sydney after an excrutiatingly early flight from Christchurch in the South island of New Zealand to Brisbane on the centre of the East coast of Australia. That was about a week ago after having to leave Harry the van with a car market as we did not manage to sell it before we left - hence drastic lack of funds. This last week we have travelled from Brisbane to Byron Bay to Port Macquarie and now to Sydney, with some long hours spent on the greyhound bus down the East coast. After not feeling the love for Brisbane last time I was here I definitley appreciated this city more this time and loved Byron and especially Port Macquarie as much as I did 5 years ago. It is very strange coming back to all these sights that you thought you had forgotten, and which actually flood back with amazing familiarity. This country is still beautiful and I love it but it is a lot more expensive than it was 5 years ago, so we are doing a whistle stop tour of Oz and will more than likely have to head to Asia a lot earlier than planned as our small budget will hopefully stretch better there. We have experienced a lot more rain in the last week than we expected from sunny Australia, though last time I was here it was the height of summer and we arrived just as Autumn is approaching so I guess it has to rain sometimes. We are not having much luck with chasing the sun so far on this trip - we have been caught in 2 huge down pours in the last week but can't complain too much! We are planning to stay in Sydney for about a week (in a hostel in King's Cross red light district - yes that is all we could afford on our budget - fun times!) then head south to Melbourne. Hopefully I will find some time to put up a few more pics soon. We are still having the trip of a lifetime and are looking forward to the next adventure. Hope you are all well and apologies again that this is so brief. Miss you all tons and sending lots of love, Katie and Matt xxx

My dad absolutely loves OZ. He has a couple of friends that moved down there from here 10 years ago and he visited two years ago and still hasn't stopped telling us the same storys over and over again!
Have fun and Take care!
Hi - always good to hear what you are up to!
