The last three days have been a mix of some of the wettest weather, beautiful country side, and gracious friends.  We left Front Royal and headed down Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.  This scenic drive follows the crest of the Blue Ridge mountains for 105 miles.  At its southern end it joins the Blue Ridge Parkway, which stretches 469 miles to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

At the end of Skyline Drive we picked up highway 250 for a beautiful ride through lush twisty mountains roads.  50 miles to the end of our ride to Cass, WA, we got soaked in a blinding pouring rain.  When we got to Tom and Cyndy's home we were two very wet bikers.

When we first heard that T&C were going to move to West Virginia from Grant,Nebraska, we thought they had lost their marbles.  But once we visited their new home in Cass we quickly understood why they made the move. They have found a little piece of heaven in the Monongahela National Forest, the Green Bank River, and a  80 mile Rails to Tail in their backyard, and a great view of "their mountain" from their deck.  When T and I take these road trips we often ask each other "could you live here?"  The answer is yes in Cass, WV.  Close by is the Cass Scenic Railroad, the Green Bank National Radio Observatory, and the Snowshoe Ski Mountain.  Within four hours driving they are in Washington, DC, home of their kids and granddaughter.

Sunday, July the 21st, our 31st day of our trip, we sadly leave Cass and ride to Abingdon, VA.  Near Richwood, WV it rained for 30 minutes, we couldn't see the road so we pulled over, luckily this time we had our rain gear on.
