As I check in for my original flight to Shanghai, I check on the status of my original flight from Miami. It's been delayed and will not be making the connection to Shanghai. Good thing this isn't my first time out of the house.
Back to Hong Kong.
My flight gets into Chicago around 9:30pm which is normally way past my buddy Stacey's bed time, but she's there to pick me up regardless as we don't know when the next time we'll get to see each other. It's very unlikely that she'll ever make it to China and it's not looking like I'll be coming back to the States any time soon. After a few hours of packing over talk about life the universe and everything, she realizes that she has to be up for work in less than 5 hours. We have a long hug and part ways yet again. I have a couple hours before my other buddy, Rick, gets off work and over to my place. So I get cracking on the repack of all the things I deem necessary for a move to China. The airline allows 2 check in bags of up to 50lbs each and a carry on. For most people, this might be a problem, but for me I don't even have 70lbs of stuff total. After a few more hours of packing over the good conversation of 2 old high school buddies, it's time to say our goodbyes and head back to the airport.
