Thursday 19th January
A few days have passed since our last entry to this blog and I must say they have literally flown by.During the day we have been busy taking the sun, exercising in the Gym,attending port talks, visiting the cinema and eating of course.. We have attended two evening cocktail parties in three days and we have another one tomorrow evening. Will my liver survive this onslaught.??Still once we start making port calls the number of parties will diminsh for a while, then we can dry out a bit.
Yesterday -the 18th- at 11:15 we crossed the equator. Known as 'Crossing the line'.There is a ceremony which takes place on this occasion, in which people who have never crossed the line before, get covered in all sorts of goo before being unceremoniuosly dumped in the pool. Before the ceremony they are known as 'POLYWOGS' and afterwards they are known as 'SHELLBACKS'.I have included a photo of the moment we crossed the line and if you look really hard you can see where it is. There is the slightest of bumps when the ship passes over it!!!!
We were able to see a Covent Garden production of Carmen yesterday afternoon at the cinema of course but in 3D.Absolutely stunning production, but then I would say that because it is the only classical Opera that I like.As a contrast the 3D version of PUSS IN BOOTS was a bit of a laugh.
Today a ships choir was formed and we have joined that. If this works ok we shall be putting on a show for the other passengers in a few weeks.
Next stop Walvis Bay in Namibia for vwhich we have just complteted our entry paperwork.
