Awoken by a knock on the door at 5am in order to get ready for the bus at 6am. Thankfully it was only a short journey today, stuck in the last 2 seats at the back of the bus next to the toilet. Again we had a thorough search by the Salvadorian officials before getting back on the road and arriving in Guate at midday.

Guatemala City is a sprawling mess and not a particularly nice place to stay. At the bus depot we had no where to stay, no flights and no money. We found somewhere with Internet access and set about searching for flights. Found something pretty cheap and decided to book later. Went next door to Subway for breakfast before jumping in a taxi and setting off to find a hostel. Not much choice in the way of hostels and ours was probably the pick of the bunch, even if it was dirty and old.

Dave decided he needed to go to hospital for another blood test and I couldn't be assed to go so holed up in a net cafe until he was finished. Must be some kind of record. 7th country he has visited a hospital on this trip! When he finished we booked flights to NY for tomorrow morning. Only left ourselves an hour to make the connecting flight in Houston. May be a mistake?

There really wasn't anything I wanted to do in Guate so ran back to the hostel in the rain before reading for a couple of hours. Nothing much really happened for the rest of the day. I had a couple more Gallo's and we chatted to an English girl who was spending 6 weeks in Guate City! I was bored after 1.
