After all the build up, Cyclone Monica has been a total washout. Last night we all went out to a bar in town, The Vic, which was playing really bad music but still got back around 3am. Everyone was looking forward to the cyclone, which may sound a little odd, and someone even described it as like waiting for New Years!

With the wind building up we checked out the forecast map and were all really disappointed. It had hit the land and completely wiped itself out. It was no longer on a collision course with Darwin but heading south.

The cyclone is on us now and as a result of it going overland it has gone from Cat 5 - 280km/hr to Cat 1 - 60km/hr! It's more like an English shower than a cyclone! Disappointment all round.
