Where I stayed
With very little to do we decided to walk to the Big Goose pagoda on the other side of the wall. Xi'an has a wall running around the outside of the city. The LP map was decidedly out-of-scale again and the walk was much longer than expected. The pagoda was OK but like everywhere else in China you have to pay again to actually go up it. Still the view was pretty good and it had wasted 3 hours in getting there and looking around, whereas I probably would have been on the Internet otherwise.
To waste another couple more hours we decided to walk back rather than get the bus. When we got back we saw that Julia and a load of people had arrived so we all went out for dinner. Thankfully the restaurant was far better than the last 2 nights although slightly more expensive. We had a quick rest and saw a bit of the footie on TV before heading down to the lobby for a few drinks.
It was pretty packed and loads of people were heading out later so naturally I was up for going out again. Yet another Rich had arrived taking the total to 4, surely a record? Only Dave and I survived from the previous nights group.
At about 12 we jumped into a taxi and headed to the club. Took a fleet of 3 taxis so it was quite a group. The night was nothing like the previous one. It took us 20 minutes to order the drinks and the owner seemed pretty annoyed that we managed to get them for the local rate. The music was worse, it wasn't as busy but we still had fun. 2 Chinese girls were going their best planet of the apes dancing when the next thing I know they had fallen off the raised platform and been knocked unconscious!
Dave and a Danish guy, Jesper, had also had experiences with a local girl trying to kick the door down whilst they were in the toilet! Apparantly she didn't agree with foreigners being in the club as she was shouting obscenities (in Chinese) and pushing us around all night.
