Feeling like we had exhausted the sights we wanted to see in Shanghai we opted to do nothing all day. Slept in as long as possible before collecting our train tickets and heading out.

After eating no food on the last train I decided to buy some crap from the corner shop. Few packets of crisps and some muffins, nice and healthy. It was raining pretty hard outside so when I was offered an umbrella I buckled under pressure and bought one for 40p. If it lasts a week it'll have been a good purchase. It felt good not having to dodge out of the way of other peoples umbrellas and should now manage to get out of Asia with my corneas intact.

We then holed up in the net cafe for 5 hours for some much needed diary writing and pretty much waste time before our train. Come 4pm we went back to the hostel to collect our bags. The rain cover came in useful for the first time and we were there for about 10 minutes as Dave put on his full Arctic gear for the short walk to the station.

Once inside the train station we saw a big screen showing the footie highlights but it turned out they were months out of date. The train left promptly at 7pm. We had needed to book a soft sleeper as all the hard sleepers were taken. In all honesty it wasn't that much better. We were still sharing a room, with 2 Chinese girls this time, but they snored like troopers all night. We also got a free dinner which I swear was boiled testicle and rice! For the added expense it was slightly more comfortable and after reading till about 11 decided it was a good idea to try and get some sleep.
