As we were flying home, we were able to see all of the beautiful coast towns along the US. Although we couldn't tell where we were because Copa Airlines, doesn't have the in flight map, we knew we were home. Excited? Not really, we love traveling, but happy to be able to see all of our family and friends and catch up with everyone on things that have happened over the last seven months that we have missed out on.

As soon as we got on the plane, Bart was checking out what movie we would be watching and it was one we already saw; Dream-girls, Bart's not a music person, hates Broadway shows, even though he has taken me a few time.  They are not his favorites.  So he was flipping through all of the radio stations and came across (I think this is the name)  Proud to be American by Lee Greenwood (?).  It felt good to be listening to that song as we flew home, because we are very proud to be American. And over this trip we have realized how many freedoms we have and how lucky we are. Even though we might not always agree with our governments actions, or occasionally come across a person who is American and you are not very proud of them. But it was a nice welcome home.

Our plane landed at 1:30AM, another plane was in our gate, so we sat in the penalty box for an hour, blew through customs, which was a shock.  Then waited for another hour for our bags ( I dont understand how it takes two hours for the bags to trickle off of the plane). We check our two bags, which we had along the entire trip, but some how we acquired 2 more huge bags. Bart's popped out and then our new bags and about a 1/2 hour later my bag finally came through. It was now 4 AM, we decide to rest in the airport before we would make our way to the city.  Bart laid down for about 30 minutes, until a police officer asked us to move, along with the 20 other people waiting for flights, so we just hopped on the train to Manhattan. We arrived around 6:30, bought our bus tickets and checked our bags.  We walked out of the Port Authority Bus terminal and over to Times Square.  It was cooler than we anticipated, but nice to be in NYC.  We walked by a crowd that was gathered at the shooting of the TV show, 'Good Morning America'.  We headed up to Radio City Music Hall and over to Rockafeller Center where we saw the ice skaters.  In the corner we saw another crowd and figured it was the filming of the Today show.  We walked over and saw Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Stacy London and Martina McBride was about to sing,  We decided to see more of the city so we took a pic of St. Patricks and hopped on the subway to Battery Park were we bought tickets for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  The line was super long, but went quickly.  It was a bit cold, but the sun was nice.  TYhis was our first time to Ellis Island and we took a tour which was interesting.  It was an interesting feeling and I could not help but wonder what it was like the day my grandfather came through the very building I was standing in.  Especially after this seven month long trip where I met family that left Sicily and now live all over the world.  As far as doing research there... it is much easier to go to the website and and surf around.  Although I did find a few names that might be family on the 'Wall of Honour' that I would like to track down...
