Happy New Years to all from down under!!!
Heading to bed around 2AM.  Early one for us, but not many we are sure..

We were up and about around 8:30AM, but didn't hit the road until about 10AM.  As we walked out the door we ran into Nadia and Luke.  They had a Hollywood Costume New Year Eve  party that they went to near Kangaroos Point.  They said they had a great time, amazing views of the fireworks and didn't head to bed until about 5AM.  They asked us for a while if we wanted to go, but we figure it would be nice to just have a quite New Years out.
We were on our way to the Sunshine Coast.  Luke tells us it is beautiful with great beach.  Paul and Maria told us about Hell's Gate at the Christmas party, so since they are right next to each other we decided to do both
When we arrived we couldn't believe the view, it was breathtaking.  The water was crystal blue, and the waves just keep coming in.  It was gorgeous, nothing like the Atlantic Ocean back home.  And so strange that both sides of the Pacific Australia and California, look so similar with the waves.  I don't recall if the water was crystal blue when we went to CA a few years ago, but it just reminded us of somewhere else.

We decided to walk along the Sunshine beach, then to Noosa National Park, where Hell's Gates is located.  As we were walking down to the beach we noticed a path up in the hill, soon we were heading in that direction and came across a visitor information board for Noosa National Park (Headland Section).  We decided to walk along track number 5 Alexandria Bay.  It was 2 km walk from the beach to Alexandria Bay.  Great views while walking until  we arrived at the beach, which Luke already warned us about.  It's a nudest beach, not many people around, but a ton of jelly fish.  They were all kinds lined along the coast, blue bottles, all brown, and spotted jellyfish.  As we reached the other side of Alexandria Bay we headed up the steps, picked up track number 2 Tanglewood and about 550 meters later we were at Hell's Gate.  The views were fabulous, had to be careful you didn't slip and fall over the side.  At one point Robert even noticed a giant sea turtle in the water snacking on some jellyfish.  We took some photos and video and made our way back over to Sunshine Beach.  As we walked along the beach we noticed a lot of family out having their New Years Day picnics, people fishing, dogs playing fetch, families playing cricket, kids swimming, guys surfing, people flying kites, anything you could do at the beach was being done.  It was a wonderful day out, nice breeze, great sun, water a little cool, but perfect.

We went back to the car for a little short ride to town.  Once were not sure where to go but we remembered talking to someone on the beach about Hasting Street, when we say it we knew we were going in the right direction.  Hasting street is like the tourist hub, hotels, tourist information center, restaurants, ice cream parlor's ( in Australian parlour's), clothing shops, everything you would have in a tourist/ vacation town.  We followed traffic into Noosa Spit, the locals call it the woods.  It is a wooded area along the river with parking all over the place.  If you follow the road all the way through you will arrive at Laguana Bay, where the Noosa River and Bay meet.  Very difficult to find a parking spot at the end, but we did eventually.  And a little mom and pops ice cream truck was there, I got Noosa Berry and got Chocolate Lovers Delight, perfect for him the chocolate lover that he is..  With our cones in hand we walked along the water out to the Bay, a bit windy I must say.  The view was very nice as well.  It was just about sunset and one section of the park everyone was setting up their camera for some great sunset photos.  After a long day we decide to head back to Boondall.

At the house Robert had pasta with a salmon cream sauce with capers.  So good and full.  I headed into the bedroom to clean up a little, while Bart and Luke watched some TV, and Nadia finished her paper that was due the next morning.  When she was finished we read it over for her and she was good to go, she did a great job.  Time for bed, have a good night.
