So we started our day off with a 7AM, cloudy and drizzling, to get the bus to Mondello. Thank god we walled all the way to the first stop, if not we would have missed it. The entire route was redirected due to the Marathon.. We finally arrived in Mondello after a 30 minute bus ride just in time to see the Marathon start. When they were lining up for the 4k t start, Bart decided he would run.. So he hoped in and ran with the locals and a lot of British.. We over heard then talking and staying how cheap a weekend it has been for them and the flight was only 25 Euro, that examples all the British.. I took some photos and video of him that we will post.
When we returned to The Micciche casa, we were greeted with a pasta and salad lunch.. Then we were off to the game, took forever to find a bus.. They do not run to many buses on Sunday. We finally arrived, it was great stands selling everything black and pink, food stands. We had to enter one gate show our ticket and then find our gate to enter the stadium, of course our gate was closed with 15 minutes before it started we were sent to the next line which was huge.. We finally made it in and the clouds opened up. Thank god we had our jackets and thank god for that umbrella I bought in Pisa, we put that over our legs. We actually stayed pretty dry. The experience was different a little strange, things they could get away with doing,in the US we would be put in jail for.. The crowd was screaming, the horns were totting, and the drummers were drumming, then all of a sudden the M 80's go off and the flares were lite, we couldn't believe it.. We immediately took out our camera.. We have some good pics and video of this as well.. It was a good game, we didn't have good seats due to waiting to purchase tickets the last minute, but it was fun. Palermo ended up losing.
After the game we couldn't find a bus to save our lives so we walked down to a road that looked familiar from the bus route to Mondello and then made our way to Via Liberta one of the main roads in Palermo. There we found a festival of all of the products around Sicily, we tasted cheese, wine, chocolate, olive oil and so much more. We even purchased a bottle and were shocked to only pay 5 Euro.. Still not being about to find a bus, we walked up Via Dante and to Stefano and Nelli's house. Talked to them about our day and then had dinner.. Pizza, it was very good. One with ham and artichoke and the other with pepperoni and mushrooms.. Irene told us about her favorite pizza, which was called American pizza, why b/c we didn't think it sounded good. Pizza with cheese, sauce, and french fries. Her favorite word is schiffo(disgusting), add that to the list another Italian word I learned on the trip.. We talked some more, then off to bed. We will be talking the bus to Cataia tomorrow..
