A&O City Hostel And Hotel

Wednesday September 20th 2006 -8.64 miles
Arriving in Munich, we headed out of the train station in search of the only hotel we could find due to the Oktoberfest celebration. After the 10 minute walk (which was definitely 20minutes) we were at the AO Hostel/Hotel. This is a very clean, lively hostel that had people of all ages but a bit pricy for a hostel ($85). The only problem was that you cannot check in until 3pm and we arrived at 9AM. So we threw our bags into storage, washed our faces and hit the road. We walked down to Oktoberfest which is actually a huge fairground with a lot of food stands, games and amusement rides. We walked for a bit then left the grounds and hopped on the subway to Marienplatz to see the Glockenspiel and Karlsplatz. Hit the grocery store for a snack (interesting fact; we bought 2 sodas and a large stracchatelli flavored yogurt. We were charged a deposit for each item. Went outside ate our snack then return to the store. They have a machine where you put your bottles and a receipt prints out w/a barcode. Back at the register they scanned our barcode and gave us our deposits back.)
