Pull into Paracas, a very small beach town on the Pacific that has a rep for kiteboarding and kiteboarding lessons. Get ripped by the Hostel Santa Maria on a taxi from the bus terminal (S./5 for a 250m taxi ride, don't make the same mistake).  Miss the wind by a few days so decide to change bus ticket the next day to Lima for an earlier one - departing at 11am.

Dosing, Dosing, Dosing, Shaking, Shaking, Shaking - Paracas - Pacific + Earthquake...having - freakin earthquake!!! 3am South Peru gets nailed by a 5.9 Earthquake for a few minutes (and we were talking about it the day before - madness!)...  A crazy feeling of zero control - will it stop, is this the beginning, what to do? ? ? It stopped after a few minutes, dogs barking, birds making alot of noise - the rest of the night was pure anticipation of what happens next...

Get some more unshaken sleep and read in the morning online paper that it was measured at 5.9 and damages / casualties were yet to be reported (apparently a mobile tower was down)...

So the experiences are getting better - the earth shaking around you, walls moving, bed sliding, everything rattling is not something I’d like to see very often although glad to have experienced it on an extremely minor scale...

It’s the morning after - heading to Lima in an hour - hopefully the swells jacked!
