Light travel day today. We drove from Rye
to Bangor, Maine
with our friends the Martens. They’re flying to Illinois
tomorrow and we plan to head for the Canadian border. We made a side trip today
to Bar Harbor. Drove around Mount Desert
Island and visited the lighthouse at Bass
Harbor. We had planned to have
dinner in Bar Harbor, but we found the place completely
jammed on a Monday evening in October. Mystifying – until we saw the cruise
ship in port. We headed back inland for dinner.

Baw Habaw very over-rated. How many tee-shirts and lobster fridge magnets does one need? Wish I had known you were headed there. We have biked Acadia as a family several times and camped on Mt. Desert Island during many happy summers. I would have sent you to dine on the quiet side of the island to Southwest Harbor. Oh well. Enjoy the sojourn north!
