Off to the west coast we went, mainly to get to Koh Phi Phi but we said that we would head to Krabi first and check out that place.  We were going to head to Phuket but we read and heard from a few people that its not that nice a place at all now.   So we arrived in Krabi after a shocking long bus journey on a local bus.  The driver kept stopping every five minutes to pick up someone or to go into the shops for a drink or something to eat, so we were two hours late arriving.

So were were just about to head onto a taxi into Krabi town when we started talking to a few other people.  They were heading straight to Ao Nang beach about a half hour down the road.  They were there before and said it was a fairly nice place so we changed our minds there and then and jumped in their taxi to Ao Nang. We checked ourselves into a cheap enough hotel as it is low season here.

It was a good decision to head to here. Ao Nang is spectacular, it is so much nicer a place than Koh Samui or any of the other islands on the west coast.  The beach is surrounded by massive limestone cliffs and the water is so clear.  The town it self is grand, but when you arrive you can easily see all the warning signs around the town for tsumani's.  This area was hit by it in 2004.  There are directional signs showing the evacuation route in case the warning sirens go off which are massive loudspeakers on high pylons at the beach and all over town.  It brought it home when we saw that.

We took a speed boat trip one of the days out to a cluster of four islands in the bay.  This was a little slice of heaven here.  There is this one group of three islands that are joined by two sandbars, and the water is so clear around there.  We also did a bit of snorkeling, saw no Nemo fish yet, might see them at Koh Phi Phi.
