We stayed at Thief River Falls in a campground at the city park along the river. The wildlife refuge is located 15 miles north on route 32 and east on route 7 on a gravel road for 8 miles to the entrances of the refuge. The visitor center was located 6 more mile further down the road. After the rains the roads were to my liking good and muddy so you can slip and slid. After 8 miles of slip and sliding we came to the visitor center and met some very nice people that worked on the refuge. The refuge has about 20 miles of road that the visitor can travel to see wildlife. Lots of deer, duck, geese, moose, wolves, eagles. The only thing that we didn't see was a moose or wolf. We had a fun day slipping and sliding and looking for the mysterious moose. When we got back I had to give big red a bath.
