We started our long trek up to the Pizzale Michaelanglo at around 1:00 in the afternoon, it was a beautiful but steep trek up a bunch of stairs along the side of a hill. At the time it was still drizzling so the trail was mostly empty, which was nice. Florence is a very touristy and you find a large amount of people standing at street corners with maps trying to find their way. Finding your way around Firenze is really easy, since all the streets are marked well and most locals are very helpful.

Earlier that morning i needed to get some travelers cheques cashed so we hunted down the American Express office in the city. A little tip for fellow travelers, ALWAYS try and find an American Express office when you need to convert your travelers cheques, any other places will charge a commission or a fee, which can be sometimes as much as 10% (NUTS!!).

The view from the top of the hill (Pizzale di Michaelangelo) was phenomenal, take a look at the photos and the video. Further up the hill was a beautiful church and an amazing cemetery with the most elaborate grave stones, a lot of the grave stones had photos of the people who were buried there, which was a little creepy.

We lounged in the square for a good couple of hours, by then the weather had cleared up and the sun was out, so the view got even better.

By around 6 in the evening we decided to head back to our room, along the way we grabbed dinner at a beautiful restaurant, most restaurants in Florences have tourist menus displayed which have a fixed price which includes the crazy cover charge. We found a neat little restaurant which had a 3 course meal including dessert for about 16E, we also had glass each of the house wine.(yummy)

We headed back to the room very tired and sleepy. We had just enough time to plan our route for Riomaggiore (Cinque Terra) the next day. We had to get up early at 7:00 inorder to make our 8:27 train.
