Ok, I think I have learnt all the theory I need to for the PADI Open Water diving exam. It was all quite fun and interesting to learn, so I didn't mind doing some studying in the summer break! I'm really learning quite a lot...all the SCUBA stuff, plus I'm practising my French a few hours every day! It's improving quite a lot and very fast. I keep forgetting simple words that I used to know easily when I was learning French at school, but it's getting there again.

I had a great afternoon yesterday. I came back from diving school and went snorkelling in the bay for a while and saw some astounding fishes and corals. I can't wait to go deep underwater to look at even more interesting fish etc! I saw some magnificent bright blue (almost glowing) fish and rainbow colored fish of all sorts and many more. Even a whole school of rainbow fish at one point! After that I relaxed and air-dried in the hammock overlooking the sea and beach. I got my PADI book and the diving chart and learnt for quite a while until I was sufficient at all the material (this was fun and relaxing though). After I got my iPod and laid in the hammock for ages looking over the sun going down slowly over the water and creating sparkling reflections on the water. (Listening to The Doors and other nice relaxing holiday music!)

When the others got back we went for some more snorkelling at sunset which was incredible...we kept going until it was too dark to see underwater, then went back and dried off and met up a bit later for dinner. We walked towards the bigger bay (10 minute walk) which is a bit busier and sat at a beach front restaurant to eat. I ate some Pad Thai with seafood which was delicious and drank coconut juice and a fresh mango shake mmm. For desert I had bananas with coconut milk (hot) which was very sweet and nice. Then we just sat at the restaurant in candle and torch light for ages talking (in French some of the time too!).

This morning I got up early with everyone even though I don't have to be in until 12:45. We had breakfast sitting on pillows at the beach front and I had musli and corn-flakes with joghurt, honey, cashew nuts, cinnamon, fruits, and lots of coconut shavings and a coffee-coconut shake! Mmm. Then I sat in the hammock some more and looked at some more diving theory to make sure I'm ready. Then sat at the beach for a while, and now I'm about to have lunch with Jason, and then head in the water with the diving school to actually DO something and not just having to learn the theory all the time. I'm quite excited, especially about my two 12-meter dives out at sea tomorrow, and the two 18-meter dives on Thursday!

Till next time...au revoir!

Ben
