On the Hook

Flag of Bahamas  , Rock Sound,
Sunday, May 8, 2011

We left Highborne Cay and took the Bank side travel, which is about 12 to 25 ft deep.  Again, we just went very slowly through the waters takiing in all of the beauty.  We are still in awe of the colors of the water and the clarity.  Just out side the Highborne Marina, we stopped to snorkel.  Ralph did. I didn't.
I just hung on the boat and used my snorkel.  Again, it was soooo very clear in 25 ft water you felt like you could touch the bottom with your toes.  Not much fish here to see , but lots of pretty coral.

Went outside on the Sound side in big swells and fished our way down to Norman's Cay.  The cut had the tide going out and the winds opposing the tide and there were big swells going in.  It was a little scary, but we could see that it was pretty deep (20 ft) and the pass was pretty short.  Once inside, there were several boats parked right on the channel line.  Of course, you couldn't do that in the States.
There was a small island with one palm tree right in the middle.  We could see some people on the island with their dinghy.  Once we got anchored, I fixed our lunch and we were top-side eating when the dinghy from the island started over to us.  Low and behold, it was GinTuck (the boat name) from Bimini
that we had crossed with and docked with at Nassau.  We spoke briefly and found out that they were anchored right around the corner.  We had already decided to push onward to Shroud Cay and anchor over nite.  That is exactly what we did .  We found a small cove with a sailboat, a nice fishing boat (Hatteras) and a huge yatch.  Put the anchor down and went exploring all around.  We had a good dinner of our Mahi and a good nite's sleep.

No internet and little telephone service.
