Highborne Cay Marina

After leaving Nassau,  we decided to just go slow and enjoy[ ]  the cruise, plus save diesel.  That is exactly what we did.  Also, on the way over we had to watch out for coral heads...............'the book' said to leave Nassau so that you would have the sun at your back when you arrived in the Exumas so that you would be able to see the coral heads.  Our friends on 'Son of a Sailor' said don't worry about the volkswagen-sized heads, just dodge the school bus-sized ones.  That's what we did.  It looks like a big black spot in the water, but the big ones rise high enough to the surface that it would damage your boat badly.

Trip over was good.  I took a nap.   It is amazing that with the bright sunshine and the breeze, it gets really
cool in the shade.  I had to cover up with a beach towel to keep comfy.

Arriving about 2:30, Ralph decided that we should go straight for the cut and the Sound side of the islands and try to redeem ourselves with not having caught any fish.  We made it through the cut even with the tide going out....it was a little swift!  Once on the other side, one of the boats that had gone past us on the trip over was out there also.......fishin' and fish'n.

I started driving and Ralphie put out the rods.  It wasn't but about 10 minutes and he hollered up to me,'back down'.....now that means for me to shut down, pull back the throttles because he has a hit on one of the rods.  Sure enough I went down to bring in the other rods so he doesn't get tangled in them, while he was pulling in a fish.   The fish jumped several times and we could see he was a bull dolphin.
How beautiful!  The colors were magnificent.  What excitement for us.

Once again, we started trolling and the water depth was going from 65 to 700 or more.  We were zig zagging back and forth.  Now, I am down on the deck, watching the rods.  It couldn't have been more than 15 min. and again .....back down.  We had another one.   Now, do you want to guess who got the biggest fish?  Ha Ha, Look at the pics.

Now, the other boat is following us.  He saw us catch the fish and he starts trailing us.....That didn't las long though, we had to go in and get our place at the marina.  We had made a reservation.  This is absolutely a georgous place.  If Staniel Cay is prettier than this, it will be unbelievable.

Ralph cleaned the fish, but had to wait about 15 min. because someone else was there first and they had mega mega fish.......Some of the people on the dock were cooking fish.  We hadn't met them yet, but we will ...........Beautiful day .......fun day.......good dinner (to say the least).......all is good.

Hope to Snorkel on Saturday.  Then, moving on.
