ZION NATIONAL PARK
Angels Landing Trail
The beginning views crossing the footbridge over the North Fork of the Virgin River are magnificent. Even though this trail is all paved, it is seriously steep. The steady 2-mile uphill trek begins with switchbacks up the steep West Rim Trail that hug the side of the mountain. We are like hundred-year-old people huffing and puffing after each switchback going up Cathedral Mountain.

Refrigerator Canyon - Just over a mile, a bridge crosses the canyon connecting Cathedral Mountain and Angels Landing. This part of the trail is absolutely gorgeous with all the red, orange, gold tree colors.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Squiggle the Wiggles
Could it get any steeper. Oh, yes. Now it's time for "Walter's Wiggles" (named after the first superintendent of Zion who helped engineer this steep, zig-zagging section.) The trail ascends 21 sharp, steep, zig-zags just before getting to Scout Lookout.

Scout Lookout - The junction of the Angels Landing Trail and the West Rim Trail with very impressive views down into Zion Canyon.
