Where I stayed
In Ottawa, the Capital of Canada, we are staying in the HI, which just so happens to be the old gaol. We were given a room, which used to be offices.
The following morning we had been bitten by bedbugs, but the hostel did not want to know about it....great! So Caroline and I headed off for the day. We toured through Parliment House and had to go through numerous security checks just to get inside, had lunch at the local markets, Byward Markets.
I spent the afternoon on my own taking in the John Massey Exhibtion. Cool contemporary photos. I really liked the Jack photos, which were a series of photos of eyeballs that start off as a dot and getter bigger and closer!
I met up with Rick's friend Kim and he took me out for dinner and a few drinks in a gay bar, being early in the week, nothing much was happening so it was a quite night, but fun to catch up with him.
The second day we woke up again with more bites. The hostel could not ignore it now as there were 4 of us with them. They refunded money, gave us money for laundry and transferred us to a gaol cell....cool. I have never slept in a gaol cell before.
We visited the massive civilisation museum which took us most of the day. There is so much to see! At one point we came across a movie of Indian families dancing around a fire and playing wooden instruments. You could dress up in Indian clothing and it filmed you and put in one the screen too....really cool.
