Where I stayed
Chicago was a surprising city. I arrived extremely jetlagged and headed off to do some shopping. It felt great to walk down the street and have shops, restaurants and bars on the street, in the open! it was also cool and I could feel my body relaxing and taking in the fresh crisp air and reviving my soul....I have obviously been lacking in something in the desert.
I was eager to get my tastebuds bouncing with new foods and something comforting and tasty; Across the street from the hotel is a restaurant call Heaven on Seven (www.heavenonseven.com) and offers cajun cuisine. Okay, just have to try that!
Feasting on chicken fried steak, mashed potato and country gravy with a jalapeno corn muffin was out of this world....and perfect for this jetlagged puppy.
I met up with some early arrivals and we headed out to dinner at the famous Rick Bayless, Frontera restaurant for mexican street food...absolutely wonderful and I felt like I was being spoilt for food choices and I hadn't even started on the Chicago staples yet! However, I was now falling asleep in my taco as I had been awake for 48 hours straight now...it was time to go to bed!
The following 2 days were filled with exploring the city, taking an architecture cruise down the river. Chicago is famous for their architecture! and sampling Chicago delights.
On the Saturday night we had our 'formal' event that was organised for the girls weekend where we all got together for dinner and drinks. A room full of truly amazing, inspirational woman that will always be remembered!
