Where I stayed
The hotel is plush and luxurious (yes a real novelty for me) in the downtown area. There wasn't alot happening in this area of town being the business district, however Iit didn't take long to organise my evening (mainly because the Manager of a fabulous restaurant was standing behind me as I was enquiring about dining options with conciege)! Sweet.
Quick freshen up and hitting up the hotel bar ( I wasn't missing out on my free drinks at Happy Hour) got me a little buzzed and ready for the evening. Got chatting to a lovely Irish lady who had lived in Sydney for awhile and now lived out East. She ended up buying me a drink (remember I'd already had 2 and was jetlagged). It was great to chat with her and the hospitality of the locals was amazing. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to anywhere within a 3 mile radius. Score!
I arrived at Sambuca Restaurant and was seated straight away. Turns out being Halloween and in the city, it's not such a busy night. But there was a live band, some dancing and my lively waiter (who was dressed up as a rocker) was entertaining and plied me with enough cocktails (on top of the near bottle of wine already consumed) to ensure that I wasn't going to feel the effects of jetlag! He certainly worked for his tip and kept me laughing all night!
Unfortunately I just didn't have time to explore this great city. There is plenty to do here (and the surrounds) but this trip I was going to have to give it a miss because I needed to be up early the following morning for my next flight.
Sigh, all those cocktails only kept me awake and jetlag/bodyclock screwed me over!
