This morning we entered County Kerry. Having coffee in Tralee, where the biggest beauty pagent, The Rose fo Tralee, in Ireland is held every year before heading on a ferry across the Shannon River and entering County Clare. Dolphins swam with the ferry, which was cool. We had lunch in Lahinch, which is the second surfing capital in Ireland. I dipped my toe in but it was freezing.....
Onto Cliffs of Mohar. They rise from Hags Head and reach 203 meters high. YOu can hear the surf crashing down below before even reaching the edge. It is very windy at the top of the cliff.
We arrived at the Burrens for the tourist photos with its dry, rocky landscape. It is said that one of Cromwell's General's once said " neither water enough to drown a man, nor a tree to hand him, nor soil enough to bury him". There are 65 megalithic tombs erected by the first settlers of The Burren in the area.
We drove through Lisdoonvarna, where the Matchmaking festival is held every year. Paul stopped off so that Nikki and I could make enquiries about it.
Our last night is in Galway. We are staying in the heart of the mall and we headed straight to the Kings Head. Heinkeen had a promo on and every beer you buy we got "money" we all pooled our money and during the auction won a video player. Seeing that Nikki and I were staying in Ireland, the gang gave it to us. Our first bit of "furniture".
