(60 miles)
What a morning! I woke up at 4:15 and although we completely dismissed any chance of making it to church about half way through yesterday, that was the first thought on my mind as I awoke. I looked at the map, knowing we had a long way to go, I told Chrissy that we maybe could make it. It was grueling but we biked 45 miles on little sleep and much up hill before 9:30 AM and made it to church in the beautiful town of Pecs. We consider it a miracle and it was surely the spirit that woke us at 4:15. Church was neat in the small branch (70 active). We arrived a few minutes late, so for sacrament we did not get translation, but for the two classes there were kind missionaries to whisper in our ears. After church we met the Koczka family. He is the branch president. When they heard about our trek they immediately invited us for dinner (with the missionaries as well for translation.) "Dinner" ended up including laundry and help finding a campsite as well as an invite for lunch the next day when we picked up our drying laundry. So nice! Pecs has definately been the highlight of our Hungary stint.
Pecs is where my family lived for a semester when I was 9 years old (this is Chrissy writing now if you couldnt tell.)  Most of my memories consisted of eating icecream cones and walking around a city wall. Well, the ice cream was as good as ever (bigger scoops here than anywhere) and the city is beautiful. It was a 2 day holiday which made all the stores closed (another reason the Koczkas were such a blessing for us,) but that also meant cool craft fair and low traffic on the road. Definately glad to be here.
