(70 miles)
We spent the morning appreciating the sites in Pecs and exploring the beautiful St Peters Basilica while eating ice cream for breakfast. At about 1pm we headed back to the Koczka house for some tasty liver and mushrooms, pickled cauliflower and potatoes, to get our laundry, and to say "thank you very much" (one of our few hungarian expressions) as enthusiastically as possible. We hit the road (by the way it turns out you can take the main roads with bicycles, just not through cities) and with the reduced holiday traffic and finally a warmish, clear day we happily cruised 70 miles and across the boarder to Croatia by the time it got dark. Croatian towns seem a bit more manicured than in Hungary, with nice gardens and yards, and the towns closer together. It is always exciting to cross into a new country and those days always make for the easiest, most distracted riding. We couldn't find a campsite when we needed it so it was another woods night for camping.
